1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how India Property Law ("we", "us", "our"), an editorial and advisory portal on Indian real estate law, handles personal data of visitors, registered users, subscribers and clients (collectively, "you") of our website and related services. We act as a "Data Fiduciary" under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, phone, password (hashed), city/state.
- Profile & engagement: membership plan, saved articles, comments, queries submitted.
- Transaction data: billing name, GSTIN (if any), invoice address, payment status. Card / UPI details are processed by our payment gateway and never stored by us.
- Communications: emails, contact form submissions, consultation requests.
- Technical data: IP address, device, browser, pages visited, cookies and similar identifiers.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, operate and improve the portal and member services.
- To deliver legal services, consultations and documents you request.
- To send transactional emails (invoices, updates, security alerts).
- To send newsletters and editorial updates (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- To detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- To comply with applicable Indian laws and lawful requests from authorities.
4. Legal basis
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent under the DPDP Act, or where processing is necessary for performance of services you have requested, for compliance with law, or for our legitimate interests in operating a secure, lawful platform.
5. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with: payment gateways, hosting and analytics providers, email/SMS service providers, and our empanelled advocates strictly for service delivery. Disclosures to courts, regulators or law-enforcement agencies are made only when required by Indian law.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies for login and security, and analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage. You can control cookies via your browser settings; disabling them may affect site functionality.
7. Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services and to meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations (typically 8 years for invoices and books of account under Indian tax law).
8. Your rights under the DPDP Act
- Right to access a summary of personal data we process about you.
- Right to correction, completion, updating and erasure.
- Right to grievance redressal.
- Right to nominate another person to exercise rights in case of death/incapacity.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time.
9. Security
We implement reasonable security practices and procedures as required under Rule 8 of the SPDI Rules, 2011 and the DPDP Act, including encryption in transit, access controls and role-based permissions.
10. Children
Our services are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly process personal data of children without verifiable parental consent.
